Parachute Day!

Adorable. When I was a first grader and my much-older sister was student teaching at my school, one day she actually taught my gym class, which all the kids thought was super cool. That day we did what was widely considered to be the best gym class activity - playing with the parachute, just like this. These kids were screaming and giggling like crazy, and I couldn't help but grab the vidcam and capture some of the fun.

Parachute day!

How come this isn't part of adult life?

I know. Why does all the fun end when we reach maturity? Pooh.

OMG, I loved parachute day in gym class! We used to play Shark with one kid lurking around under the parachute ready to grab someone's legs and drag them under...

Hmm...maybe that's a little twisted, but whatevs. It was fun.

Ha! My brother and I were just talking about this the other day. We filed "parachute day" under "activities that were solely designed to burn our energy so we'd settle down for the rest of the day," along with "tetherball," "red rover" and "steal the bacon."

Ok, for the record, parachute day IS still a part of my life on a fairly regular basis.

And also, I happen to have a parachute...somewhere. So parachute sunday is completely possible. Except remind me to never play with Melissa. God.

I was taught by my sister once in Grade 5 and was horrified, no parachute for me!

I used to take our daughters to a Gymborree classes and the most popular game there always was the parachute. Fun times.
