Wisconsin Weekend

I am such a hopeless Macmonkey. Sloan and other family and I crashed at our friends Tim and Sally's awesome farmhouse in Wisconsin over the weekend. They're honeymooning in Japan at the moment. I've been home for ten minutes and I'm already uploading a two minute video to YouTube.

I don't have a real video camera so I just used the camera on my MacBook, very carefully walking it around the house and barns. I'm such a dork that I wrote the music for this and edited it on the way home in the car.

It's not perfect. Some of the titles overlap and I put the soft focus filter on after the titles, so they're fuzzy and too light in places, but I don't feel like taking four hours to re-edit. And I wish I had a bridge in the song but I still like it. I could write music for hours.

aww, that last shot of you is TOO cute! also, this vid reminds me of a "first shooter" game, except substitute green pastures and art supplies for dark hallways and bloody zombies. :)

makes me wish i had a "response video" of my weekend in the mountains (okay, hills) of Missouri. :)

Aw, thanks. I was a little puffy and scruffy but I think it's funny how zoned out I get when I'm editing like that (I actually didn't realize the camera was on, duh).

I wanna see your vacation video! Edit, edit, edit!!

Great job! Love the music!

One criticism: you drank Corona in Wisconsin?

Thanks, Painty. I'd fix those few things I mentioned if I had the time but I want to get into the habit of doing a few of these quickies frequently, and not obsessing over every tiny detail.

You know why we were drinking - Corona - no wheat! (Plus, it was there when I got there...and I'm cheap/lazy.) What should we have had? Wisconsin Ale?

I want a camera on my Mac. Wait, maybe I don't -- there would be lots of pictures of my in my bathrobe and my messy sofa.

And you did look cute as a button.
I'm glad you had fun, and got a break.

I also had the Corona thought -- Wisconsin screams for Leinenkugel.

Exactly, Nora, there are a million pictures of me in my pajamas on the couch. Leinenkugel, why didn't I think of that?

Ahhh, right...the wheat...

NOOO WHEEEEEAAAAT!!

We had a fabulous time but all of us had astonishingly powerful reactions to the allergens floating around the place. I woke up with a swollen painful throat every morning that magically disappeared by 11 each day.

Wheat was just allergen we wanted to avoid.

What a cozy looking house - that looked like great relaxing fun. I have friends with a country house upstate that they're always inviting me to but I don't really dig it because it's not charming and they don't have any cozy comfortable furniture to lounge on. What's the fun in that???

Upstate? That brings up a question. I've always wondered why, when you ask people from upstate New York where they're from, they always say "upstate New York" and never a specific town. They make it sounds like it's another country or something.

I would like to add that I also did not read your issue of Discover, can you send it? I loved your closing image especially but the whole thing was excellent.

Yes CP, please explain the 'upstate New York' catch all.

Glad you enjoyed the vid, Dale. Next time I will remember to put the titles on last so they're not all smeary.

I haven't read my copy of Discover yet, either! Read it here, moochie.
