My Pix of Chicago Underground Comedy Oct. 7, 2008

Entire set here. Sometimes we get bumped to our venue's upstairs room when they book a band for the night, and it's a totally different feel and look. Downstairs is totally a rock venue -- big and dark, with dramatic stage lights, whereas the upstairs is small, has a black and white parquet floor, bright lights, and no stage, so there's no real distance between the audience and the performers. Also, the upstairs photos of our comedians are not rock star like they are downstairs. They're usually grainy and/or dark, but they capture some interesting moments.

The solid and always funny Nate Craig, visiting us from LA again:

Ricky Carmona. We girls have all taken note of what we call the Carmona Effect -- you can't stand within twenty feet of Ricky and not physically feel yourself growing happier:

Brendan McGowan, whose engagingly casual storytelling style belies increasingly sophisticated comedy:

Jim Fath and James Asmus of Hey You Millionaires, who walked in with two props -- a wheelchair and an axe handle (we try not to ask too many questions):
