I love learning more about the people who lead us. They're human, too, and it's always a good thing for us to pause and consider the people behind the public face.
I've always enjoyed presidential transitions for precisely this reason. I hope that as Bush leaves the White House, he's given a similar due. He may be massively unpopular, but he's a husband, a dad and a person, too.
Thank you for sharing this!
I read that in the Telegraph and was quite alarmed to discover that he's a smoker. As he's supposed to be a role model for young people, this is not good, and neither is the fact he's admitted to taking illegal drugs.
I agree, Carmi, I've always had a fascination with presidential history.
And Jonathan, I have a feeling the smoking is something that will stop before too long, for several reasons. And I'm actually not troubled by his drug use, because I think anyone under 50 in the United States who says they've never tried drugs is #1 not telling the truth or #2 a statistical anomaly. I think his honesty on the topic is the main thing.
Wait, there are pin-up calendar auditions at Harvard? Still?
I'm sure they're very ironic and clever. :)
